Paris welcomed, inspired, and launched some of them that marked the interwar period. In Montmartre, Montparnasse, and Saint Germain des Prs, they frequented the same studios, cabarets, cafs, dances, theaters, and cinemas. Carried away by their attractions and passion, these men and women lived out their relationships in complete freedom. Most came from foreign
