Victorian Niello Cross Pendant & Silver Chain celestial particularly the swordDATE: Victorian, c. 1890 A superb antique niello silver cross pendant, with a chequerboard pattern and in very good condition. Niello is the name given to a certain mixture of copper, silver, and lead that has a black colour. It's a technique that dates back as far as ancient times, but regained popularity in towards the end of the 19th Century. With a niello silver bail, it hangs from a silver chain with a wearable length of 19 inches. MEASUREMENTS
