TALLA VOTIVA HINDÚ Greece Meiji Period between 1868-1912Material: Teak wood Origin: Hindustan, circa 1810 Measurements: 39 cm long x 4. 5 cm wide x 29 cm high Semicircular carving on teak wood that was part of a ritual utensil for grain offerings related to Dharmic rites. It represents a Marwari horse in a genuflecting position situated between two circles that symbolize dawn and dusk, as it pulled the solar chariot according to the Samundra Manthan tradition.
