He served as Obergefreiter in a tank destroyer battalion and died on 23 February 1943 from severe injuries on the Eastern Front at the young age of 21 years and 3 months. Alois was the holder of the Eastern Front Medal and the Tank Assault Badge. According to the official records of the German War Graves Commission, his status as a war casualty
