A Latin cross constructed of silver, the obverse and reverse with a central blue enameled medallion, inscribed PIIS MERITIS, on a swivel ring for suspension from a slightly mismatched modern replacement ribbon, marked VM for manufacture by Vincent Mayer and with dual A Vienna Assay marks, measuring 52. 0 mm (w) x 64. 1 mm (l), weighing 22. 73 grams, in near extremely fine
